The Simon Bolivar School in Quito, Ecuador was reconstructed into militarized police headquarters. These are the last remaining pictures of the school before its transformation. The increased militarization of our cities and the interference of the US government in Ecuadorian politics threatens the lives of the children who, more than anything, should have access to safe education.
Digital architecture can serve as a space to reconstruct and remember spaces that have gone through transformation. The piece functions as a virtual space in which the audience can move around rooms created from the few remaining images of the school. The sound, different in every room, is sourced from other schools in Ecuador.
